How to make Yourself Safe from Wild Animals

How to make Yourself Safe from Wild Animals?

This is a situation we mostly see in movies and TV shows; someone wanders off into the woods or goes out camping and is suddenly encountered with a wild animal. It’s something we really don’t even want to think about. But do we just abandon our plans to go camping in the wilderness to get some well-deserved rest just because we are scared of wild animals? No. We learn about how to stay safe:

Get Rid of Any and All Food Smells

Animals get attracted to food. Get an odor-eliminating spray that you can use after meals. Try to not eat anything with particularly strong smells either. Use different clothes for cooking and eating than you do for the rest of the day. Pack all your odor- emitting things in airtight containers and such so that the animals cannot notice them from afar.

Don’t be Too Quiet

Animals tend to stay away from areas that are noisy. Do not start banging pots and pans for no reason, just keep talking to your partners from time to time, keep your engines running and try giving off as many man-made sounds as you possibly can. If you end up becoming extremely quiet, wild animals can easily wander into your territory.

Get Animal Proof Containers

Be it coolers or containers or bags where you pack your clothes, try getting them from legitimate hunter’s shops. They will make these containers as animal-proof as they can be. This means that they will sturdy enough to not be broken down easily, they will not be able to attract animals with their aesthetics and they will not allow any smells that can attract animals to leak from the inside.

Wear Sturdy Clothing

Try to wear sturdy boots and gloves as often as you can. These can help in staying safe from snake attacks if any snakes do come into your territory. Try to wear clothes that are difficult to penetrate with snake fangs and paws of other animals. You can talk to your gear supplier for the best material for this cause.

Be Vigilant About Snakes

Speaking of snakes, remember that these little critters wander off into tiny nooks on your campsite and just wait for you to make a move and attack. Try to inspect every space where a snake can possibly get in and clear it out before sleeping. You are most vulnerable to an attack when you are sleeping or moving things around. Try to keep thick boots and gloves to stay safe from snakes in such cases.
